The Benjamin Boxes program was started in 2008 by a local mom who experienced the loss of her son at 36 weeks. Filled with comfort and support items, a Benjamin Box can be given to individuals in-hospital to assist with memory-making. They are offered at no cost, and Pacific Perinatal Foundation facilitates the coordination of the Benjamin Box program.

Filled with personal care items, keepsake and comfort items, Benjamin Boxes are delivered to individuals while they are still in the hospital or shortly once arriving home. It is our hope that having a memory box will bring some comfort during this difficult time and allow families to participate in the important ritual of memory-making with their baby.

Often, we hear from people who have experienced pregnancy loss say they left the hospital with nothing but a broken heart. We believe no one should go home empty handed. Everyone should have the opportunity to remember their baby no matter how brief their gestation. We hope that those who experience pregnancy and infant loss feel supported and less alone knowing that other loss parents thoughtfully and lovingly placed items in the boxes for them to build memories and to feel nurtured.

If you are experiencing a loss, please reach out to us so we can deliver a box to you as soon as possible. When you are ready, we welcome you to join our peer loss support groups.
